My Ten Strategies for Having a Successful Study Session Before a Test
10. Stay hydrated, eat the right foods, and make sure you're getting enough sleep (nutrition). It is important to be energized when comprehending the test material in order to remember more vividly.
9. Begin studying for the exam a few days before. This will make you feel slow paced, relaxed, and less pressured when studying the test material.
8. Study in a quiet place. Reduces distractions and will help keep you engaged in your study session.
7. Study with your classmates who are taking the same test. Having a study group is one of the best ways to study because the people in the group keep you active for studying for the exam.
6. Listen to calm and tempo music. Smooth Jazz!!!
5. PUT YOUR CELL PHONE AWAY. This is why many of the students do not do well on the exams because they become distracted and waste time using their cell phones during a study session. Keep the phone out of sight and put it inside your book bag to reduce the temptation.
4. Quiz yourself. It would bring you more interaction with the test material by testing yourself on what you know. The material that you couldn't figure out is an indication to go back and study that specific section again.
3. Stay organized. This will help you stay on top of your studying habits and gathering notes in the classroom.
2. Be positive. Negativity isn't an option. Believing in yourself and having the right attitude ALWAYS increases your academic performance.
1. Be confident. Tell yourself you are going to ace that exam without a doubt because you know inside that you are perfectly capable of doing so.
Following these strategies will develop a great habit which will lead you to success. Always keep in mind: Study effectively beforehand and NO PROCRASTINATION.
I never know where to start when I'm trying to study. I can't concentrate long enough to actually learn anything. I've tried studying for 20 minutes and then taking a 15 minute break, but that just gives me a reason to stop studying and do literally anything else. I've never tried listening to relaxing music though, so I think I'll start trying that.
ReplyDeleteThese are some great tips. The problem I have is actually finding motivation to study.
