Social Media Becoming a Great Source in Your Personal Life




Social media in general has been a great resource to others when communicating to different people and expanding business opportunities as well as other ways to get into networking with others to better yourself in what you would like to accomplish in particular. As for me, social media has played a huge role in my life and has impacted me based upon the content that I view on the internet daily or in other social media platform. I tend to be on Instagram more to view what in going on in the world visually through pictures and videos. Not only do I look at Instagram as a general social media platform, but I look at Instagram as another news platform. Every time I'm on my explore feed, I am always seeing what goes on in today in America. I primarily like to focus on in what goes on in sports. I am all about being informed on the trades and contracts or any other incident that occurs in the NBA and NFL. Just a few days ago, I was scrolling through my news feed and when I refresh my feed, suddenly I encounter multiple posts of NBA player, Carmelo Anthony, leaving the New York Knicks to play for the Oklahoma City Thunder. I was truly amazed! Every single person I know was shocked and amazed as well. Because of our social media platforms, more and more people get informed on what is going on in sports because the majority of people (especially the younger adults) would refuse to watch the news coming from the television or reading the actual newspaper. Instead, people would use most of their time fidgeting on social media. Although abusing the use of social media and becoming overly obsessive in when it is a bad thing, but it can be a great resource to be informed and be aware on what is going on in the world around us.

To this day, I still firmly believe that Facebook is the greatest social media platform invented, and that Mark Zuckerburg is one of the greatest innovators of all time. Facebook contains just about every source that may be applied in every dimension. Facebook expands business opportunities and to connect with others more intimately. Because of Facebook, I develop the much broader view on what is going on in different people. For example, I don't usually get to see my cousins who live far from home, but I get to see their events that they have participated in with all sorts of pictures and posts from one timeline to the other! Facebook is also another great source to see people's different interests like the movies they enjoy watching, the music they enjoy listening to, hobbies, and other interests in general.

Social media is truly an amazing source to keep people updated and still be involved in your life even if you aren't there in their presence. Considering that I am away for college, my family and friends back home in Miami get so see what goes on in my life in Ohio. By them observing my pictures and posts through my social media platforms, they know that I am safe and having fun at the same time.

    Social media really is an amazing tool to find out so much information about the world. I think it's incredible how we can just go on our phones and see everything that is happening. Like what you mentioned with Carmelo Anthony and the Knicks, or even seeing an event unfold live, like a football or basketball game.

My Personal Experience During Homecoming Weekend

This past homecoming weekend was truly a blast and one of the few life memories to have. Having participating in the football program and playing in the game during homecoming a weekend was absolutely a blessing hearing the people in the stands root for ONU and showing major support. When I reminisce homecoming back in high school, I picture the amazing memories I have being nominated for homecoming king and standing in the middle of the football field during halftime with the other nominees. When it comes to college homecoming, the spirit is much more enchanting and people really showed love for the school. It was an honor seeing the alumni coming back. It was also a great opportunity meeting an NFL athlete and former Ohio Northern football player, Jason Trusnik. Jason really gave us some encouragement in the locker room during halftime and we came out and got a phenomenal win. ONU Women's Volleyball

The women's volleyball team at Ohio Northern University (ONU) has had a very successful season with 27 wins, five losses and being nationally ranked at 18. The team will be playing in the first round of the Division III NCAA Tournament on Friday November 10, ONU will make it's way to Wittenberg, Ohio to take on DePauw University. The ONU volleyball team now has a great chance to advance to the national championship if they continue to win. Also, if ONU continues to win more games, this will give our university another successful title for the success we had. It was a great opportunity to watch the women's volleyball team against Mount Union last Thursday, November 2. The fans were going wild, and the team played with passion while gaining another victory. The level of competition they put out showed the hard work and intensity they've been putting in at practice the entire season. I look forward to the team gaining more success as the season continues.
