Harmony in Diversity through ONU Marching Band

The ONU marching band is playing a huge role in gathering a ginormous amount of people from different backgrounds and gathering together to perform together as a unity of the marching band itself. This is a great way for all types of students who are of a different culture or setting to get to know other students and form diversity as a group to represent the college. Music itself is an amazing way to bring people together no matter what type of background they have because when it comes to music, every one playing their instrument is on the same track. There is NO SEPERATION! Together the people performing share the same goals and ambitions while playing their piece to the music, and that is to collaborate with each other and combine the musical into a spectacular piece. The ONU march band in nicknamed "The Star of Northwest Ohio" just because the ensemble is completely phenomenal. With the students sharing a different background and coming from countries around the world, they all have one thing in common: a love for making music!

When thousands of people come to an ONU football game, every single one of those individuals most definitely becomes impacted by the performance from the marching band. Not only does the sound and performance grasp people's attention, but how the band performs together to make the ensemble sound extraordinary. In addition, we are not the only ones who observe their performance. They get the opportunity to travel to different countries around the world and perform there. It is without a doubt that they impact more and more people from around the world based upon how they may work together in a diverse unit to perfect the performance. The college's motto is "Ex Diversitate Vires". That motto means that our diversity is what strengthens the university's foundation.

  1. I think it is great that you chose to highlight the importance of the ONU marching band. I didn't expect this to be the post that you picked for this week but I really like the message that you are sending with it. The band might get overlooked but for most of the students at ONU, they mean something. Thanks for sharing AJ!
