Social Media Marketing: Chapter 2

Image
After reading chapter 2 in Social Media Marketing, I learned the Facebook is used a lot as a marketing tool, not only as a use of a basic social media platform. Nowadays, the majority of the population would only use Facebook to expand their business traits and to increase production clientele. The book primarily speaks upon how you should also have your personal profile as well so that people viewing your profile can distinguish the types of content and posts that are business based and personal life based. Facebook is an outstanding source to expand business opportunities and help others understand the business that you are contributing. The majority of Facebook users who use their profile as a personal profile would often try to sell things online. When they do that, that is a way performing a business-like tactic That is a great practice for those who are trying to open up a business page to use it for marketing.

My Personal Experience During Homecoming Weekend

Image
This past homecoming weekend was truly a blast and one of the few life memories to have. Having participating in the football program and playing in the game during homecoming a weekend was absolutely a blessing hearing the people in the stands root for ONU and showing major support. When I reminisce homecoming back in high school, I picture the amazing memories I have being nominated for homecoming king and standing in the middle of the football field during halftime with the other nominees. When it comes to college homecoming, the spirit is much more enchanting and people really showed love for the school. It was an honor seeing the alumni coming back. It was also a great opportunity meeting an NFL athlete and former Ohio Northern football player, Jason Trusnik. Jason really gave us some encouragement in the locker room during halftime and we came out and got a phenomenal win. Apart from the football game itself being an incredible experience, I had also attended another homecoming

Social Media Becoming a Great Source in Your Personal Life

Image
Social media in general has been a great resource to others when communicating to different people and expanding business opportunities as well as other ways to get into networking with others to better yourself in what you would like to accomplish in particular. As for me, social media has played a huge role in my life and has impacted me based upon the content that I view on the internet daily or in other social media platform. I tend to be on Instagram more to view what in going on in the world visually through pictures and videos. Not only do I look at Instagram as a general social media platform, but I look at Instagram as another news platform. Every time I'm on my explore feed, I am always seeing what goes on in today in America. I primarily like to focus on in what goes on in sports. I am all about being informed on the trades and contracts or any other incident that occurs in the NBA and NFL. Just a few days ago, I was scrolling through my news feed and when I refresh

Putting All Things Together

Image
In the last chapter of The Art of Social Media, Kawaski talks about putting everything together on your social media profile. That is to set the foundation and amass your digital assets. But the way the Chapter digs deep is brought into many details. In the beginning of the chapter, they were using a nonfiction book-launch scenario as an example because book launches touch upon a variety elements of social media. Although not all those steps are applicable to every situation, but it's useful to see a complete list of ideas that could potentially make an impact in a social media platform. This tactic is primarily used by people who would not consider themselves quite the "professionals". Instead, the strategy is only for untrained amateurs. If you are a professional, meaning you know all there is to know about social media, you are involved in a business, and you are accustomed to weeks of strategizing, testing, and consensus-building inside a large agency, than this strat

ONU Homecoming 2017

Image
Its that time of the year. A time to celebrate an annual spectacular event that fulfills Ohio Northern University's school spirit. During this event, everyone is having a great time and this brings the opportunity for the notable alumni to make themselves present. This year, Ohio Northern is planning a memorable homecoming event this year with a 100% guarantee that the students will have the time of their lives. The spirit that they will develop by being at the football game and hearing that marching band roll! As for me, I am on the football team and I most definitely look forward to participating in the homecoming event while playing a game at the same time. This will actually be my first time experiencing homecoming in college. I believe that this homecoming event will be a completely different feeling apart from homecoming in high school. Much more people would be performing in different groups such as color guarding, dancing, and my favorite, the drum line! There will als

The Future in Social Media: 2018 and Beyond

Image
As a generation, we all can come to realize that the 21st century is evolved around social media interaction. But we also should come to think to ourselves this: where will social media heading in the future? Is the use of social media gonna increase rapidly or decrease? Perhaps people might be willing to give it all up and go back to face-to-face interactions. In my opinion, life is better in a social aspect when communicating and interacting with others in person. The reason as to why I think this is because you feel like you are really involved with the person's well being just because you are in their physical presence. At times, interactions with people in person can cause an intimate relationships and long-lasting friendships. Who knows? Maybe somehow society can reduce the obsession over the engagement in social media platforms and take a step out in the real world to what is really surrounding them. In this blog, I will be discussing the few factors we can consider t

"Thinking It Through" Podcast

This is a podcast that explains the details as to how social media affects us personally whether it is positive or negative. When there is a brighter side to social media, there is a darker side at the same time. It can affect many people mentally. Especially with the younger ones. However, I had explained a few steps as to how to manage your time use on a social media and becoming mentally prepared when engaging on social media. The point of this podcast is to help others reconsider turning their social life around to a much better and less pressuring way. http://think-it-through.madewithopinion.com/feeds/think-it-through/rss/

Becoming "Twitter Poppin'!"

Image
Chapter 9 on The Art of Social Media speaks about making your twitter chat interesting. A twitter chat is a live event in which people put a hashtag in their tweets to discuss some topic in particular. What you have is a "host " and a "guest". The host tweets the questions with the hashtag, and a guest tweets responses with the same exact hashtag. The people who are on Twitter at that very moment during the live event want to know what exactly the topic is about so that they may pitch in on some questions, comments, and retweets. Twitter chats is a perfect tool to get twitter users to engage with other users. In addition, twitter chats present a special challenge because guest need to think and type fast. Some of the users find it easier to speak rapidly than to type. Most of the people would use Google+Hangouts in order to speak rather than type. A great solution to having a live twitter chat is to use a short hashtag that everyone could remember. This a

The Bench at University Terrace Apartments

Image
As I am battling the components of life, whether they are challenges, unbearable events, or the stress coming from school, I take a small share of my time and step outside my apartment walking toward the bench that overlooks the pond. As I am approaching the bench, I take a seat, and I overlook the horizon of the flat and calm water that flattens the flow of the pond. During that very moment, I make peace with myself and I make sure that nothing else is in going on in my mind while I am sitting on that bench in front of the pond. All I am focused on at that time is the motionless atmosphere and the silence that surrounds me. While I observe the atmosphere, I view the gorgeous unpigmented, clear, white clouds that are scattered within the light blue sky, and a flock of ducks, black swans, and geese slowly swimming on the pond water closely with each other as a unit. Every time I take a seat on that bench, I always ask the Lord to clear my mind from every little thing that is evol

Social Media May Potentially Hurting Your Career

Image
Today's generation has a ginormous amount of people whose lives evolve around social media. The majority of people in society could not even go ten minutes without using their cell phones. For others, social media is the way of life. People rely heavily on social networking because they truly believe that opportunities grow more and more by online and gadget sources and only that. Truth be told, social media is not the only source to make your career life opportunities expand. In fact, social media might be interfering with your career. Experts say that the majority of social media users are millennials. Millennials, also known as "Echo Boomers", is defined as young people who are reaching adulthood in the early 21st century. Additionally, the millennial generation started in the early 1980s all throughout the 1990s all the way to early 2000s as the ending birth years. The most successful people such as Bill Gates, Richard Branson, and Martha Stewart said that the mille

Perfecting Your Posts

Image
The posts we share on social media is what makes our profile valuable. In addition, our posts is the foundation of our social media profile. After reading Chapter 3, I was able to review and get a better insight on the steps on how to perfect your posts. One of my main purposes to sharing my content is to have others re-share them , and the more re-shares I will get the more followers and interaction my profile will receive. The chapter briefly explains what it takes to create posts that will add value to the lives of your followers or anybody on social media who will view your profile. In the beginning of the chapter, there are some questions to keep in mind before you post on your profile: "what am I trying to say?", "what words will express it?', "what image or idiom will make it clearer?", and "is this image fresh enough to have an effect?" As long as you are confident enough to know that your post consists of the factors that are within

Community Service: An Essential Part of ONU Student Experience

Image
Community service plays a huge role in an individual. It demonstrates work ethic and character. Those two attributes are essential to have as a person. Those attributes play a key role to working your career job because they change your attitude and your work performance. At Ohio Northern University , their point of view is that "community service is about more than just fulfilling service requirements or gathering résumé fodder; it’s about adding a valuable and unique piece to the student experience." As a matter of fact, community service is something many students couldn’t do without. Nick Pesetsky, a marketing and creative writing major, quoted that  “working with other students at ONU to help the community brings out the best qualities of compassion and thrift in them and shows that, regardless of background, students at ONU share a core set of values they live by and act on.” Nick demonstrates a point here in saying that different students with a different backgro

Woman Allegedly Records Unconscious Friend Being Raped and Shared on Social Media

Image
The world continues to get sicker and sicker. The majority of people all over the world have no idea the impacts that they make on society based upon their unnecessary and immoral acts. Why am I saying this? People in society need to observe how others come across as deranged psychopaths. A great example of that would be an incident that had occurred Friday, September 1st. Beth Rae Harris, a 36 year old woman from Chicago, has been charged for being present and encouraging rape of her 23 year old friend. Not only was Beth disregarding her friend's abuse, she recorded the act of crime and posted the video on social media. Beth had posted these pics and videos on Snapchat. According to Facts Chronicle , Beth Harris' intention was to purposely get her friend heavily drunk to get her raped by one or more men. Beth also encouraged these men to rape her friend who was already passed out due to intoxication. She then used her friends Snapchat account to record a video and post it on h
