Social Media Deliberately Changing the Video Game World
"There is no doubt that we’re suffering from significantly diminished attention spans at this point in history, and social media has contributed in no small part to this." says John Stevens of Adweek. Considering that people develop instant gratification in the activity in playing video games (especially if they are online games) and using social media, both of those activities are preoccupied by the majority of people in this generation. However, the use of social media is constantly changing the generation based upon high usage.
The fact that our generation changing due to the high usage of social media
gives the entire video game industry a higher competition. Gaming allegedly
became a $99.6 billion dollar industry and social media is playing an increasing
role in shaping it. One of the reasons as to why the video game industry grows
unanimously is because popular video games such as Call of Duty, Destiny, and
NBA 2K has made a ginormous impact causing millions of gamers an addiction. In
addition, online gaming is what makes the popularity of video games increase.
In mentioning both social media and video games, the combination is what stirs people's interest. For example, many people find plenty of entertainment in playing Facebook games and inviting your friends. I am constantly getting notifications to participate in games that my friends would invite me to play against them. These online social media games cause people to become more addicted than just using social media itself. More and more people participate in these games because they are multiplayer video games and they find playing online games on social media is another way to interact with others. In my opinion, that isn't a bad idea. However, a majority would only use that way of interaction instead of normal forms of communications whether its through social media or face to face. With that being said, video games combined with social media may cause a huge addiction for others and at the same time, the social media platforms like Facebook promote that.

Social media and video gaming are exactly alike in many
ways. Those activities occupy many individuals during their free time, they
make others interact with each other, there are ways to communicate in both (if
it is online gaming), and they both may cause the same level of addiction to
other people. But when we talk about social media and the broad impact it has
instantaneously made upon the entire generation, it has caused "gaming
geeks" who were never sociable and were playing video games in their
mother's basement to engage in online networking and interact with others more
and more. Furthermore, the geeks will no longer want to become as involved in
video gaming because there social skills has increased due to interactions on
social media. As a result, social media continues to increase while the
activity of video gaming decreases over time little by little because the concept of engaging with others
on social media is empowered beyond the nations of our entire world.
